The play tells the story of Zheng Lu, a military-turned-cadre who chose his own career, returned to his hometown to fight unremittingly against evil forces such as village tyrants and profiteers. He firmly believed that green water and lush mountains are golden mountains, and relying on the natural resources of his hometown led the villagers to get rid of poverty and become rich.
